With all 10 teams completing their quota of players for day two of the (Indian Premier League) IPL Live mega auction, Sunday concluded the second day of the IPL auction.
In the first day of the draft, India wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan became the most expensive player to be purchased by Mumbai Indians (MI). Kishan has now become the second most expensive Indian player to be snapped up at auctions behind Yuvraj Singh (₹16 crore in 2015).
IPL 2022 Auction Day 2 highlights:
IPL auction day 2 proved to be the biggest draw for England’s Liam Livingstone. Punjab Kings purchased the England batter for Rs 11.5 crore after a bidding war that consumed a lot of time. In addition to Jones, another West Indies all-rounder was sold to Punjab Kings for Rs 6 crore. Cricket player Shivam Dube was purchased by CSK for Rs 4 crore. Marco Jansen, a South African, was sold for Rs 4.2 crore to Sunrisers Hyderabad.
The first player to go under the hammer on Day 2 was Jansen’s countryman Aiden Markram, who was purchased for Rs 2.60 Crore by Sunrisers Hyderabad. Marnus Labuschagne, Aaron Finch and Eoin Morgan are among the big international stars who have not been sold. In order to purchase Ajinkya Rahane, KKR offered Rs 1 crore as his base price. Gujarat Titans bought established IPL talents like Jayant Yadav and Vijay Shankar cheaply.
